Program Overview

The Paso Method

Paso’s dance classes are built around the Paso method of awareness instruction, a renowned methodology, that teaches you to dance without counting steps. It’s been wildly successful in bringing people out of their heads, and into their bodies.

Teaching methods which reduce psychological overhead encourages faster learning, and most importantly, awareness of the physical connection be tween you and your partner on the dance floor.

Paso Course Progression

Using our Cuban Salsa program as an example, here’s how it works–

You Start with an Absolute Beginner Course

Everyone new to Paso starts here.

We teach you the basics, in the most efficient manner possible. Classes are taught in a way that is accessible and welcoming for anyone new to dance with heavy emphasis on technique.

These series courses are immensely popular with new dancers, as they provide a silky smooth introduction into dance or percussion!

You can then move up to Cuban Salsa Level 1

Once you finish your absolute beginner course, you are ready for level 1. Level 1 assumes you are comfortable with basic partner work technique such as: core projection and arm body alignment, as well as the timing of steps to Clave, Cowbell, Conga and any other percussion taught. You should also be comfortable dancing on2 (contra-tiempo)

You will cover 8 different movements. These movements represent the bread and butter of Cuban Salsa partner work, and it is from these movements that many intermediate and advanced movements are born.

..and Cuban Salsa Level 2

If you’ve mastered your basic 8 turn movements, you are now ready to explore three fundamental variations of each, for a total of 24 movements. As usual, technique and form will be major deciding factors in your evaluation, going from level 1 to 2.

Cuban Salsa 3..

This class will hand you 24 different movements, in the high-intermediate  to advanced range. These are challenging movements, and if you make it this far, congrats.

Cuban Salsa 4

At this point, you should have the vocabulary of Shakespeare, and ready to dive into the deeper concepts such as improvisation, interpretation, dialog, aesthetic form, and musicality.
